Abstract
Nephrotic syndrome is a chronic kidney disease that presents with intermittent episodes of clinical symptoms such as edema, proteinuria, albumin deficiency and hyperlipidemia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of gluten-free diet in the treatment of steroid-resistant nephrotic syndromes. Materials and Methods: In this study, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 25 patients with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome who received prednisolone at a dose of 1-2 mg / kg body weight for at least two months and received an appropriate response. They did not have more than 50% reduction in proteinuria and were included in the study. In addition to renal function tests including serum creatinine, urea and albumin, as well as 24-hour urine and urine analysis for protein and creatinine, routine tests and fat profiles before and after the intervention were performed. Results: In the study of the studied variables, the prescribed treatment significantly reduced the urinary protein of patients, which indicates the success of this treatment in these patients in reducing protein excretion in these patients. In the evaluation of other experiments before and after gluten-free treatment in the studied patients, no significant change was seen in any of the patients and in any of the studied experiments before and after the intervention.
