Abstract
placebo group (p:0.05) and hip circumference decreased significantly in MK-7 group (p<0.01), but no significant between group differences were observed at the end of study. In between group analysis, no significant differences in adiponectin and adiponectin to leptin ratio were seen, while leptin was lower in MK-7 group (p:0.03). There was a significant association between dietary intake of vitamin K and waist to hip ratio in placebo group at baseline, But dietary vitamin K intake was not significantly associated with adiponectin, leptin, glycemic and and other anthropometric indices, including body fat percent. Conclusions: MK-7 supplementation for 12 weeks found to be effective in glycemic improvement and leptin reduction in overweight/obese patients with T2DM, but it had no effect on the adiponectin and adiponectin to leptin ratio in them. Further research is required to confirm these results. Keywords: diabetes, adiponectin, leptin, menaquinone -7, vitamin K
