Hospital mortality of patients with right heart clot in Shahid Madani hospital in tabriz
Abstract
Right heart thrombosis (RHT) is a challenging diagnosis. The majority of thrombi in acute pulmonary embolism. Mobile clot is rare, and it is often detected in an emergency. The mortality rate is as high as 21% to more than 40%. Many late detection problems are due to a wide range of clinical manifestations. It includes syncope, tachycardia, shortness of breath, and shock. Accurate statistics on the rate of right heart thrombosis are not yet available, but the high mortality rate can be worrying. This study aimed to determine the mortality of a hospital with a right heart thrombosis in Shahid Madani Hospital in Tabriz.
Methods: In this descriptive and cross-sectional study after the approval of the ethics committee of the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The cases of patients with right heart clots were included in the study. Each patient's information was completed by data collection form, and finally, the data were entered into SPSS 26 statistical software. In this study P-value < 0.05 was found to be significant.
Results: Ninety patients with right heart clot were examined. Among them 41 were (45.6%( male and 49 )54.4%) were female. Mean ± standard deviation of age of patients 52.13 ± 23.54 years old. Clots in 52 patients (57.78%) in patients in the right atrium and in 38 patients) 42.22% in the right ventricle was observed. The mean ± standard deviation of clot size was 2.36 * 3.72 ± 3.07 * 3.28 cm. 36 (40%) Patients undergoing surgery, 9 patients (10%) under thrombolytics and 45 patients (50%) Underwent anticoagulant therapy. 27 patients (30% )patients studied in the hospital and 19 patients) 21.11% (one year after Clearance died. Out of 19 one-year mortality patients, 10 died of cardiac causes (52.63%) and 9 of non-cardiac causes (47.37%).
