Investigating the relationship between psychological reactions, supportive needs and coping strategies of fathers of premature , infants admitted to neonatal intensive care unit

Abstract
Introduction: Parents of premature infants suffer from stress and discomfort due to the experience of having a premature infant and hospitalization of the infant. This is due to the sense of responsibility and concern of many fathers who carry a lot of psychological burden that sometimes they need help. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychological reactions, coping methods and the need to support infant fathers in the neonatal intensive care unit. Methods: This study is a descriptive correlational study. In this study, 195 fathers of premature infants admitted to neonatal intensive care units of Tabriz hospitals participated. Participations were selected by sampling method. Data were collected using a 4-part questionnaire including social demographic information form, hospital anxiety and injury questionnaire, stress coping questionnaire and fathers' support needs questionnaire. SPSS software version 21 and Pearson correlation and regression tests were used to analyze the data. Significance level was considered 0.05. Results: The results showed that most fathers had used methods to deal with emotional methods. Most of them also expressed their supportive needs in caring for themselves and their families, and the average and health of their fathers was limited. The results also showed that there was a significant relationship between psychological reactions after depression and coping methods. Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study and considering the problems and needs of parents of premature infants admitted to neonatal intensive care units, I can use face-to-face and virtual educational interventions through social networks to educate parents and increase let's do. He used knowledge and awareness in the field of coping skills and their psychological support.
