Evaluation of the results of recurrent anterior dislocations of shoulder by Laterjet-Bristow
Abstract
Repair of shoulder dislocations is currently being widely performed in a variety of procedures. However, there is still no consensus on the therapeutic-functional results of these techniques. Also, in our country, there has not been an extensive study on the Latarjet procedure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic results of this technique in patients with recurrent shoulder dislocations.
Material and method
In this cross-sectional study, the files of 300 patients admitted to Shohada Hospital who underwent latarjett shoulder instability surgery from 2009 to 2017 were entered by census method. After recording the demographic information, during the telephone call, patients were asked to go to the hospital orthopedic clinic and undergo a clinical examination. The files of patients who did not visit in person were excluded from the study. Patient follow-up information and possible complications were recorded and the prevalence of complications in these patients was assessed.
Result
186 patients and 187 shoulders were included in this study. Of these, 93% were male and the rest were female. The follow-up period of patients was between 1 and 9 years from the time of their surgery. Recurrence of dislocation was seen in 6 cases (3.2%) in this study. In general, in 110 cases (58.8%) people were very satisfied with the outcome of the surgery and 1 person (0.5%) was dissatisfied with the result of their surgery. The mean score of Duplay-Walch questionnaire was 84±19.4. The mean ROWE score of patients before and after surgery was 13.9±19 before surgery and 93.6±14 after surgery. The mean postoperative Rowe score increased significantly compared to preoperative (P <0.001).
