Abstract
eadache is one of the most common causes of emergency room visits during pregnancy and due to the sensitivity of pregnant patients and critical diagnoses such as CVT, brain masses, tumor apoplexy and subarachnoid hemorrhage, necessary examinations are needed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the results of MRI and MRV in pregnant patients referred to the emergency department of Imam Reza (AS) Hospital with headache complaints from the beginning of 1396 to the end of 1397.
materials and methods. After obtaining the code of ethics from the regional committee of bioethics in human research, collecting information by the researcher through a researcher-made checklist according to the file information and recorded history of pregnant patients referred to the emergency department with headache complaints, was carried out. The basis for selecting the patient was the expression of a headache in triage and registration in the hospital HIS system based on the triage form. Demographic information of patients as well as diagnostic procedures performed in the emergency room including MRI results and their outcome were recorded, and after extraction, data were entered into SPSS software and appropriate statistical analyzes were performed on them and in all statistical tests a significance level of 0.05 was considered.
Results. Our study was performed on 35 pregnant women who referred to Imam Reza Hospital with a headache complaint and underwent MRI. The mean age of patients was 30.29 ± 5.43 years and the mean gestational age of patients was 28.36 ± 7.03 weeks. Among patients who had pathological findings on MRI, half had normal neurological examination and the other half had at least one positive finding in neurological examination, which was not statistically significant (P = 0.191).
