Abstract
Introduction: emergency medical service is a comprehensive system with the aim of on-time medical care for victims of sudden injuries and life - threatening accidents. In this field, it seems that public awareness and expectations about this system are not completely known and personnel of medical emergencies at the community level encounter challenges, therefore, the aim of this study is to determin the Relation of public awareness and expectations from pre hospital emergencies medical in the city of Tabriz. Method: This research is a cross - sectional descriptive study that was done in 2021. The study population included the people who were in contact with pre hospital emergency service or used these services. The final sample included 1100 people. The tools of data collection Included Individual and social characteristics and a questionnaire of awareness and community expectations of emergency services. After determining the validity of the tools, it’s reliability was achieved by alfa Cornbakh for awareness (0.76 )and expectation(0.82). These data were analyzed using two parts of descriptive and inferential statistics .the SPSS21 was used to analyzing these data. Findings: The results show that the average interviewers’ awareness scores were (65.72±14.98) .The highest awareness was related to the field of medical emergencies (75.56±6.87) and the lowest awareness was related to making contact with emergency service (58.26±21.65) and also comprehensive expectation was high (79.99±8.90) and in the field of emergency structure and facilities was reported(80.16±8.97)and expectation from emergency staff was reported about (79.82±9.95). Awareness in men and expectations from emergency medical services in women was high. In this study, there was a Poorcorrelation between awareness and expectation and a significant Relationship between level of awareness and expectations with sex, age, marital status, education level, income level. Conclusion: The result showed that the callers had moderate awareness of pre- hospital emergency medical services and the expectations of society were at a high level and a poor correlation was seen between these two variables. It is essential to increase and develop the awareness of society from different fields of , medical emergencies through mass media and social networks to adjust public expectations with respect to available resources and facilities. Therefore we can make a dynamic and constructive interaction between awareness and expectation through proper training in different stages of age and having codified programs in social layers.
