Analysis of rabies immunoglobulin vaccine consumption pattern in health centers of Tabriz University of Medical

Abstract
Abstract Introduction and purpose: Rabies is one of the most common human and animal diseases that threatens the health of many people every year. Every year, more than 55,000 people die of rabies in the world. Every year, more than 15 million people in different parts of the world are treated for rabies (anti-rabies immunoglobulin vaccine) due to animal bites to prevent rabies. Due to the fact that rabies immunoglobulin vaccine is imported from foreign countries and there are problems in purchasing vaccine and immunoglobulin in the country, it is necessary to draw the pattern of rabies immunoglobulin vaccine consumption pattern. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study that was performed using the data of health centers in the cities covered by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in relation to rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin. For the first purpose, the annual incidence of animal bites in the cities covered by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2015-2016 was collected and analyzed. For the next purpose, the number of animal bites in the cities covered by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences for the years 1401-1400 was estimated. Third, data related to the use of immunoglobulin vaccine in the cities covered by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2015-2016 were collected and analyzed. Results: According to the results, for the first purpose, the average incidence of animal bites in the population of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences was 220 per 100,000 people. For the second target for the years 1400, the average incidence was 211 per one hundred thousand people and for 1401, the incidence rate was 242 per one hundred thousand people. The average 6-year rabies vaccine use was 24853 anti-rabies immunoglobulin equals 1136238 units. The mean age of the bite animal was 31.8 years (standard deviation = 17.24), 85% of cases were male and 15% of animal bites were female. The most cases of animal bites are related to dog bites with 80% of cases, the most cases of animal bites are related to Iranian nationality with 96.6%, the most cases of animal bites are related to villagers with 58%, and free jobs with 24% and livestock group with 23%. They had a job. Conclusion: Due to the increasing trend of animal bites and consequently the increasing trend of rabies immunoglobulin vaccine use, some intervention measures such as training at risk groups for animal bites, especially residents of rural areas, self-employed people and livestock groups, management and Organizing stray animals such as dogs and strengthening the care system and immunization program are essential in this regard.
