Abstract
Vitamin D deficiency also appears to affect the severity of postoperative pain, which requires careful study, and if this claim is proven, it can be largely prevented by preventive measures such as prescribing vitamin D before surgery. Greatly reduces the severity of patients' pain; Therefore, due to the novelty of this issue and the fact that the effect of vitamin D levels on pain intensity after surgery and patients' need for opioids is still unclear, we decided to study the relationship between different levels of vitamin D with pain and the need for Perform opioid after upper extremity surgery following general anesthesia. Materials and Methods: This is a definitive descriptive study that was performed during the first six months of 1400 with the participation of 200 patients who were candidates for upper limb surgery in Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz. Serum levels of patients before surgery were measured by blood sampling and the level of vitamin D in each patient and its relationship with pain intensity and the need for analgesia after surgery was assessed. Finally, the collected data were compared with descriptive and inferential statistical tests Results: The mean total pain intensity during 24 hours after discharge from recovery was 4.59±1.89 for the Deficiency group, 2.41±0.81 for the In Sufficiency group and 65 ± 0.37 for the Sufficiency group. (P=0.029). Also, the overall mean of prescribed pethidine was 39.34 12 12.55 for the Deficiency group, 18.55 ±5.44 for the In Sufficiency group and 10.35±2.18 for the Sufficiency group (P = 0.022).
