Evalution the effect of cetrimide-chlorhexidine solution on colour stability and flexural strenght of poly methyl methacrylate of removable denture base
چکیده
Introduction: In treatment protocols, hygiene and disease prevention always precede treatment, which is one of the most important disinfectants of streptide-chlorhexidine, and its effects on dental structures are essential. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Cetrimide / Chlorhexidine solution on color stability and flexural strength of mobile polymeric methyl acrylate.
Methods: This study was performed on 40 samples (20 samples of Cetrimide / Chlorhexidine and 20 samples of chlorhexidine). Color stability and flexural strength were also recorded. Data were then compared based on Mann-Whitney and independent t-tests.
Results: The results of our study showed that the flexural strength was not statistically significant between Cetrimide / Chlorhexidine and Chlorhexidine, but it was found that the mean color change in the Cetrimide / Chlorhexidine group was much lower than the Chlorhexidine group, which is equal to (86). It was 1.49 units and (0.51 (0.86) units).
Conclusion: Chlorhexidine has less effects on the physical and chemical properties of polymethyl methacrylate and can be used instead of Chlorhexidine for disinfection. Since the color change of polymethyl methacrylate is very important, Cetrimide / Chlorhexidine has no effect It changes the color of polymethyl methacrylate and is an effective substance in disinfection.
