Abstract
Trauma is a global public health problem that affects healthy people of varying severity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between NISS and ISS in predicting the possible mortality rate of trauma patients referred to Imam Reza (AS) Hospital, based on which the severity of injuries can be assessed and the probability of mortality can be calculated. Appeared. Methods: In this study, which is a descriptive cross-sectional study. Multiple trauma patients who were admitted to the emergency department of Imam Reza (AS) Hospital were included in the study. First, ISS (injury severity scoring system) was calculated for patients and NISS (new injury scoring system) was calculated simultaneously. Finally, the patient outcome was assessed. The following values will be used to calculate the ISS and 3 large squares of AIS will be used to calculate the NISS. Results: In this study, 380 people were included in the study. The mean age of patients (33.30-37.28; 95% CI) was 35.29 ± 19.74 years, the mean age was 31 years and in the range of 25% to 75% of the population the age was between 48 and 20 years. In NISS evaluation and its relationship with outcome including shear point 24, for NISS sensitivity is 93.65% and specificity is 82.33%, positive predictive value is 51.30%, negative predictive value is 98.49% and PLR is equal to 3.5 and NLR is equal to 0.08. In ISS evaluation and its relationship with outcome including shear point 21, for ISS sensitivity is 88.89% and specificity is 82.02%, positive predictive value is 49.56%, negative predictive value is 97.38% and PLR is equal to 4.94 and NLR is equal to 0.14.
