Knowledge and Skills of Pre-hospital Personnel in Airway Management

Considering that in our country pre-hospital emergency is currently undergoing dramatic changes in order to improve the knowledge and performance of personnel, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the knowledge and skills of pre-hospital personnel in airway control and then hold a control class. The airway is in the form of a case and group discussion, and then a test of knowledge and skills will be taken after the training course and three months later to assess its durability. Methods: Before holding the class, all pre-hospital staff were tested on a special model of the Airway Administration. How to manage the airway with ambobag, laryngeal mask, combi tube and endotracheal tube in the form of Minisix test. Then, a workshop on how to manage the airway using the methods of using ambobag, laryngeal mask, combi tube and endotracheal tube was held in the form of case presentation and discussion about it (problem design). At the end, all staff were re-examined. Results: In this study, 73 people were included in the study. The median age was 35 years and in the range of 25% to 75% of the population the age was between 30 and 40 years. Most participants had a bachelor's degree. The median work experience of the participants was 11 years, which ranged from 25% to 75%, equivalent to 7 to 15 years. Participants underwent LMA intubation before the start of the course, which averaged 10 to 75 seconds and ranged from 25% to 75% for 8 to 11 seconds. After completing the course, they resumed intubation with LMA, which was 6 seconds in the middle and between 5% and 75% in the interval of 5 to 8 seconds. (Pv <0.001). Participants also underwent endotracheal intubation testing before the start of the course, which was mediated by 10 seconds and ranged from 25% to 75% for 22 to 50 seconds. After completing the course, they re-inserted the endotracheal tube, which had an average implantation time of 15 seconds and an interval of 25% to 75% of 13 to 20 seconds. (Pv <0.001). The age of the participants was not significantly related to any of the variables, work experience and education level were not significantly related to any of the variables.
