The Relationship between Career Anchor's and Job Satisfaction of Nurses Working in Public Hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Science

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: It is very important to determine the predominant anchors of nurses; because each nurse will be more successful and more efficient according to their work anchor in the relevant department. Relevant authorities can use this to increase the quality of care as well as increase satisfaction and improve other work outcomes. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between career anchors and job satisfaction of nurses working in public hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Method: The present study was a descriptive-correlational study. After obtaining the ethics approval, the link of the electronic questionnaires of career anchors and job satisfaction was provided to the nurses working in the hospitals affiliated to the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences of East Azerbaijan Province. Data collection tools included: 1- Socio-demographic questionnaire, 2- Job satisfaction questionnaire and 3- Career anchors questionnaire which was used after determining the content and face validity and reliability. Data were analyzed in SPSS 16 by using descriptive, analytical and regression tests. Results: According to the results, the highest scores of career anchors were related to: lifestyle anchor, serve & dedication anchor, and security and stability anchor, respectively. The lowest scores were related to the anchor of creativity and entrepreneurship, and the anchor of general management. Job satisfaction scores were also moderate. After adjusting for confounders, the relationship between job satisfaction score and anchors of functional- technical, general managerial, lifestyle and autonomy & independence was significant. Conclusion: According to the findings, adjusting work shifts and stabilizing employment conditions is recommended to increase job satisfaction and align the work anchor with the nursing job.
