Abstract
The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of enoxaparin and aspirin in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with or without meniscus repair. Materials and Methods: In a prospective randomized clinical trial study, 200 patients who underwent arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery with or without meniscus repair were included in the study and divided into the following two groups. In the first group treated with enoxaparin under the brand name of Kalgzan and a dose of 40 mg daily and subcutaneously for 14 days and then aspirin at a dose of 80 mg twice daily for up to 30 days and the second group treated with aspirin 325 mg twice daily for 30 days. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 18 and statistical tests 2χ and Fisher's exact test and the value of P <0.05 was considered significant. Results: The findings of this study showed that out of 200 patients, 178 (89%) were male and 22 (11%) were female. The overall mean age of patients was 28.88. 8.08 years (range: 15-54), with no serious complications such as embolism or mortality in any of the patients. In the aspirin group, 1 patient (1%) and in the enoxaparin group, 2 patients (2%) developed DVT symptoms during the one-month period. Based on the results, no significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of DVT (P = 0.561). Based on the results of the analysis, it was shown that there is a statistically significant relationship between the incidence of DVT and the presence of pain (P = 0.005), but between the incidence of this problem and other variables such as age, sex, erythema, swelling, pain duration and Also, there is no statistically significant correlation between surgical technique (P> 0.05).
