Relation of EZH2 and survival in pationts with colorectal carcinoma
Abstract
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer affecting both males and females in the world.Enhancer of zestehomologue2(EZH2)is a potential independent mechanism for epigenetic silencing of tumor suppressor genes in cancer ,thus inhibition of this biomarker in the future is promising .This study was planned to evaluate the association betweenEZH2 expression and survival of colorectal cancer in Shahid Gazi Hematology oncology research center in Tabriz city.
Method
The study examined the EZH2 expression in 100 biopsies by immunohistochemistry and associations between EZH2 and clinicopathologic features were analysed. Regression analysis was performed to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs. Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression models were used to estimate the overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS).
Results
In this cross sectional study over the duration of 8 years60 %of cases were male and 40% cases were female with the mean age of 57 years old. In 95 percent of cases EZH2 expression were high and was not significantly associated with disease free and overall survival,(P log rank=0.345 and p log rank =0.313respectively) but we showed strong association between T invasion and EZH2 expression,(p value=0.05 .In survival analysis there was association between lymph node involvement and overall survival (P log rank =0.05).
