Evaluation of general practitioners' awareness of common urological interventions

Abstract
Urology is a branch of medicine that focuses on diseases of the urinary tract of men and women and the reproductive system in men. Physicians can be considered a fully informed patient, and among the physicians providing these treatments, urologists have the most accurate information in this area. On the other hand, in the health system, the first steps in the process of diagnosing patients are general practitioners. The aim of this study was to investigate the general knowledge of general practitioners about common urological practices and interventions. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a questionnaire was prepared and distributed online to assess the knowledge of general practitioners about prostate cancer, kidney and urinary tract stones, urinary tract infections, testicular torsion, testicular cysts and renal cysts. Took. Finally, 165 physicians responded to the questionnaire and were studied. Evaluations were performed in 7 areas including hematuria and bladder, circumcision, kidney tumor, prostate, urinary tract infection, testicular diseases, and kidney and ureteral stones. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 27.79±12.03 years with a range of 25 to 58 years. 58.2% of the subjects were male. Also, most of the subjects (75.7%) were medical graduates. The level of knowledge of the subjects in the evaluated areas including hematuria and bladder, circumcision, kidney tumor, prostate, urinary tract infection, testicular diseases, and kidney and ureteral stones; It was equal to 65.87%, 65.5%, 48.25%, 55.62%, 57%, 55.62% and 63.43%, respectively.
