Comparison of treatment of subtrochanteric Type A1 femoral fracture with two methods of Dynamic Screw Condylar and Dynamic Hip Screw
Abstract
The aim of this study was to achieve better treatment with fewer complications and better rehabilitation of patients who referred to Shohada Hospital in Tabriz during March 2019 to March 2020 with this type of fracture.
Material and method
In this case-series study, 50 patients with subtrochanteric femoral fracture were included. Patients were randomly divided into two equal groups of DHS and DCS. All research information was entered into pre-prepared checklists. Patients were compared in two groups in terms of union, device failure and failure. The data were entered into SPSS version 22 software and analyzed.
Result
The mean age of patients was 63.3 ± 6.3 years. 28 patients (56%) were female. Eleven patients (22%) failed treatment, four patients (36.4%) in DHS and seven patients (63.6%) in DCS group. There was no statistically significant relationship between age, gender and type of orthopedic intervention and therapy failure (P = 0.1, P = 0.3 and P = 0.9, respectively). All cases of failure occurred after 3 months, and 90% of these cases occurred before 6 months of intervention.
