Abstract
Lactate is the final substance due to incomplete metabolism of glucose under anaerobic conditions. Arterial level measurement gives a constant level from the sampling location and is considered as the golden method. In this study, arterial and lactate blood levels (standard method) and intravenous (easy access) in patients with heart failure were evaluated and the relationship between severity of failure and serum lactate levels was compared. Method: In this study, 50 children and adolescents under 18 years of age with a diagnosis of heart failure who underwent heart surgery in Tabriz Shahid Madani Hospital were included in the study. Regular non-random sampling was performed and patients were divided into three categories of mild, moderate and severe heart failure. Patients with metabolic and infectious diseases were excluded from the study. The results were analyzed using SPSS 25 software and the significance level was considered P <0.05. Results: The mean serum lactate level was 4.3 ± 5.33 mmol / l. There was no significant difference between the mean of lactate in the three groups of patients with mild, moderate and severe heart failure (P = 0.342). There was also a statistically significant difference between EF and the severity of heart failure (P <0.001) but the other measured indicators (including gender, arrhythmia, mortality rate and diagnosis) did not report a significant relationship with the severity of heart failure (P> 0.05).
