The Comparison of the Importance and meeting of Family Needs of Patients from the Viewpoint of Family and Nurses in Emergency Wards of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2019

Introduction & Objective: Today, the patient's family is one of the basic pillars of patient care and since each member is the main source of social support for the patient during the disease and play an important role in promoting recovery and clinical decision making. Patients' families experience a lot of stress due to conditions (severe and urgent, anxiety, denial, depression, fatigue, lack of strength and fear of losing loved ones) and it can be said that most of these stresses are due to being in an unhealthy environment. Familiar are role changes, uncertainty in clinical decision making, loss of control, financial problems and fear of death, and by creating a better understanding of the needs of the patient's family, stressors can be reduced to some extent. Increasing knowledge about understanding Family members' anticipation when their loved one is away from them in a critical situation will enhance the performance of the health care system.
Methods: This descriptive study was performed on 140 patients' families (accompanying) and also on 125 emergency nurses of selected hospitals (Imam Reza, Shohada, Sina, Shahid Madani). Data were collected through a two-part questionnaire that included demographic characteristics of nurses and patients' families as well as a questionnaire to scale the family needs of patients admitted to the emergency department. Data analysis was performed using SPSS ver 21 software.
Results: The results showed that the highest mean from the perspective of patients' families (companions) to understand the need for the range of achievable score was 3.29 with a standard deviation of 0.35 in the dimension of the need to communicate with family members and the lowest mean of achievable score. Acquisition equal to 3.07 with a standard deviation of 0.50 in the dimension required the support of family members and also in terms of meeting the needs of the patient's companion, the highest average related to the dimension of the need to provide comfort to members from the achievable score range equal to 2.68 With a standard deviation of 0.53 in the family and the lowest average of the achievable score was 2.50 with a standard deviation of 0.62 in the dimension of the need to support family members. Nurses' point of view: The highest mean and standard deviation from the achievable score range was 3.18 with a standard deviation of 0.59 in the dimension of needing to support family members and the lowest average of the achievable score of 3.55 with a standard deviation of 0.48 in the dimension of need Involvement of family members in the process of patient care and in terms of meeting the need in terms of press Taran had the highest mean and standard deviation from the range of achievable score equal to 2.85 with standard deviation of 0.52 in the dimension of the need to provide comfort to family members and the lowest average of achievable score equal to 2.678 with standard deviation of 0.64 in Then there was the need to support family members.
Discussion and Conclusion: One of the duties of nurses is to pay attention to the patients, so it seems that in order to achieve this, one must first be aware of the needs of the patient's companions and family. On the other hand, according to nurses, they are the most important people in meeting the needs of patients' families. Therefore, according to the findings of the present study and the important role of nurses in providing services and care for patients and the health of the community, the results of this study can be used to improve the knowledge of nurses in special wards to understand and identify real needs. And important patients and their families used, thereby increasing the quality of nursing care and the level of satisfaction of patients referred to special wards and their families.
