Abstract
Due to the uncertainty of the results of four-strand and six-strand surgical methods in repairing flexors in Zone II and also the importance of repairing flexors in this area, and considering that so far a study has been performed in comparison with the use of two surgical methods four strands and six strands have not been performed in our region as an orthopedic reference center in the northwest of the country, so the purpose of this study is; Comparison of complications of four-strand and six-strand surgical procedures in repairing Zone II flexors. It is hoped that the results of the present study can be effective in improving the therapeutic outcomes of patients with zone II flexor injury. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed during 2017-2020 with the participation of 102 patients who were candidates for Zone II surgery in hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences; Patients who were candidates for zone two surgery underwent surgery in one group with four strands and in the other group with six strands. Patients received rehabilitation physiotherapy for three months after surgery, and finally the surgical results and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups; Data were analyzed using ANOVA and t-test in SPSS22 software. P value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The results of surgery in the six month after surgery according to Strickland criteria showed that there was a statistically no significant difference between the two groups; This means that the Six Strand group has improved finger movement according to the mentioned criteria compared to the Four Strand group; The final results of the percentage of finger movement according to Strickland criteria in the Six Strand group compared to the Four Strand group had a statistically no significant difference between two groups. Examination of postoperative complications at the end of the six month showed that the number of complications (13 patients) in the Six Strand group and in the Four Strand group the number of complications (11 patients) showed that there was a statistically no significantly diffrence. (P = 0.151).
