Abstract
The aim of study was to investigation of the association between the rs2275913 polymorphism of IL-17 gene and the incidence of kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. Material & methods During this study, blood samples were collected from 113 patients with type 2 diabetes and 50 healthy individuals that 56 patients had nephropathy and 57 patients did not have nephropathy. In order to finding the desired polymorphism in all samples, gene sequencing was performed after DNA extraction with specific primers designed by Restriction fragment length polymorphism-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RFLP-PCR) method. The results were analyzed using SPSS software version 23. Results In this study, mean age, serum creatinine and HbA1c were examined and it was defined that there was no significant difference between the different studied groups. The results of rs2275913 polymorphism of IL-17 gene showed that the presence of this polymorphism in diabetic patients has not statistically significant correlation with the incidence of nephropathy, neither in diabetic patients without nephropathy (P = 0.507) nor in healthy individuals (P = 0.538).
