چکیده
The ultimate goal of root canal therapy is to create a three-dimensional filling and impermeable seal throughout the length of the root canal and to properly match the filling material with the dentin wall to prevent the penetration of microorganisms and their products into the pericardial tissues. Lack of compliance with the walls of the canal or it’s loss for various reasons leads to periodontics complications. The goal of this study is to compare bacterial leakage in open apex canals with master cone size 80 and MTA plug with injected Gutta percha. Methods and Materials: in this study the number of 60 mature human teeth with one canal were extracted, cleaned, and disinfected. The canals were cleaned and shaped and apical third of the teeth were also widened with Gates Glidden. The samples were divided randomly in 4 groups. 1) test group number 1 (25 teeth): size 80 master Gutta Percha with injected Gutta Percha. 2) sample group number 2 (25 teeth): MTA plug with injected Gutta Percha. 3) negative control group (5 teeth): filled with gutta Percha. 4) positive control (5 teeth) no fillings were done. Bacterial leakage was monitored on day 1,7,30,60 and 90. The data obtained from this study were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and by reporting mean and standard deviation. Chi-square test was used to compare the micro-leakage in the test groups. A significant level in this study was calculated and resulted in p≤0.05 and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17 statistical software. Results: 4% of samples with no MTA showed signs of leakage on day 7 while groups with MTA had no leakage on 7th day. The group without MTA on day seven 4%, on day thirty 12%, on day sixty 24% and on day ninety 28% of the samples showed signs of leakage. the group with MTA plug showed no signs of leakage until day seven but on day thirty 4%, on day sixty 12% and on day ninety 16% of the samples had signs of leakage. Chi-square reported significant differences. (P<0.05) Conclusion: based on the given results from the study it is concluded that utilizing MTA plug in teeth with open apex decreases bacterial leakage comparing with obturation with Gutta Percha
