Clinical characterstics and surgical outcome of congenital fibrosis of extraocullar muscles
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the results and treatment characteristics of congenital fibrosis of extraocular muscle in Patients candidates for surgery.
Mthods and Materials:
in this study; the records of patients to volume 34 in the years 1388 to 1398 with the diagnosis of CFEOM surgical candidates were, in terms of demographic characteristics, the results of clinical trials, particularly in relation to strabismus and surgical interventions. The results of the treatment will be evaluated
Results:
In this study, out of 34 cases, 19 females (55.9%) and 15 males (44.1%) with a mean age of 18.17 ± 19.38 years (between 3 and 65 years) were present. The mean follow-up time of patients in this study was 49.35 26 26.13 (between 20 and 144 months). There was a statistically significant difference between the mean rate of deviation of the eye at the time of surgery and its mean after the second operation(P<0.001). There was also a statistically significant difference between the mean AHP at the time of surgery and the mean after the second operation(P<0.001). Postoperative success rates in correcting abnormal head position (AHP), correcting eye movement limitation (Deviation), and correction gap between the eyelids (PFH) were 79.4%, 88.2%, and 90%, respectively.
