Accuracy assessment of verious softwares used for liner measurements in Cone-Beam Computed Tomography imaging

چکیده
Today, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is widely used in dentistry. The purpose of this study is to compare the accuracy of Romexis 3.7.21, On demand 1.0.56, NNT viewer 8.0.0, Cs 3.0.0 software. Materials and methods: Two dried human skulls were used as a phantom in the imaging process. Twenty anatomical landmarks were indicated using Gutta-percha. The linear distance between these anatomical landmarks was first determined using a caliper as the gold standard. Afterward, two radiologists separately measured the linear distances using four commercially available medical imaging software, including ONDEMAND, ROMEXIS, CS, and NNT. After that, the measurements were repeated in two weeks. Intra- and inter-rater reliability was determined, and the mean values recorded by the software were compared to those of the digital caliper. Results:. The mean difference between the values recorded by the caliper and the NNT, ONDEMAND, CS, and Romexis software were 0.13mm, 0.02 mm, 0.04 mm, and 0.03 mm, respectively, which was well below the 2 mm threshold suggested by the previous articles. Furthermore, the existing difference among these values was not statistically significant. Furthermore, all of the values recorded by the software had a significant correlation with the values recorded by the caliper. Conclusion: Values recorded by the four medical imaging software were accurate, and there was no statistically significant difference among the values generated by them. Furthermore, all of them generated values with variations much less than 2mm.
