Analysis of microRNA-135 family members in patients with primary FSGS
Abstract
Nephrotic syndrome is a common kidney disease in children and adults. Pathogenesis of disease is glomerular filtration because of podocyte injury. microRNAs are small 20-22 single-stranded molecules that were evaluated as biomarker in different diseases from diverse body tissues. In this research, microRNA-135a-5p expression level was evaluated in plasma and PBMC samples for early diagnosis of Nephrotic syndrome.
Material and methods. Real-time PCR was used for microRNA-135 expression level evaluation in plasma and PBMC samples and blood sampling was performed from 30 patients with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) within 30 patients with Membranous Glomerulonephritis and 24 healthy individuals.
Results. Here, microRNA-135a-5p expression level significantly reduced in plasma samples of NS (P= 0.028) and MGN (P= 0.033) groups in compared to healthy controls. In PBMCs, remarkable differential expression was reported between MGN and FSGS groups (P= 0.030). ROC curve analysis showed that microRNA-135a-5p in plasma and PBMC samples have not diagnosis power in discrimination of NS patients from healthy individuals.
