چکیده
Objective: In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility, biofilm production, and clonality of clinical S. agalactiae isolates. Methods: A total of 87 S. agalactiae isolates were collected from patients reffered to 3 different clinical laboratories in Tehran, Iran. The antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by disk diffusion method and biofilm formation ability was determined by microtiter plate assay. In addition, pulse field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) was used to verify the clonal diversity of isolates. Results: Of the 87 isolates, 15 (18.75%) formed biofilm. All isolates were sensitive to penicillin and vancomycin. The highest resistance was observed to tetracycline (98%), followed by erythromycin (27%). The PFGE patterns revealed a total of 43 different pulsotype consisting of 19 single tones.
