Evaluation of demographic characteristics, karyotype and Personality profiles of volunteers for sexual reassignment surgery
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the personality and karyotype characteristics and demographic characteristics of people applying for gender reassignment.
Materials and Methods:
The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which gender reassignment applicants referred to the Forensic Medicine Organization of East Azerbaijan Province were studied. The subjects were patients in the last ten years and the sampling method was counting. Applicants' files were examined for demographic characteristics. Patients' karyotype status, SRY, and personality profiles were extracted from patients' files based on MCMI-III and MMPI tests. Data analysis using SPSS software was 23 23. The results were announced in the described cases if they occurred and were announced, and the analytical cases used the T-Student method for quantitative variables and the Chi-Square method for qualitative variables.
Results:
In this study, 61 patients were studied. The mean age of the subjects was 23.73 +/- 6.79. The female sex in this study was 65.2% and about twice that of the male sex. Personality disorder was observed in 22.5% of people. 91.81% were single, 47.54% were unemployed, and 95.9% had the same genetic characteristics. .Education, marriage, age did not have a significant relationship with gender. The prevalence of personality disorders was significantly higher in men than women. Has been the transgenderness of these people.
