Frequency and in hospital mortality of Mitral papillary muscle rupture over 10 years in Madani Heart Center
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of papillary muscle rupture and compare the hospital mortality rate of mitral papillary muscle rupture between the two groups with and without surgery.
Materials and methods: The method of project implementation is retrospective study. Data related to patients referred to Shahid Madani Hospital in Tabriz who were diagnosed with papillary muscle rupture were extracted from the files in the hospital archives between 2007 and 2017, and based on the echocardiography in the file, the presence of papillary muscle rupture of Mitral was determined.
Nosocomial mortality of patients diagnosed with papillary muscle rupture was identified in the case file and mortality of patients who underwent surgery was determined and recorded. A comparison was made between the two groups with and without surgery in terms of nosocomial mortality.
To analyze the statistical data obtained from the study using SPSS-19 software from descriptive statistical methods (mean SEM ±) and to analyze clinical data using Mann-Whitney U test (Wilcoxon rank-sum test) to test statistical differences It was performed between the two groups (with and without surgery). A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant.
