Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Tilburg Pregnancy Distress Scale (TPDS-P) for screening pregnancy distress. Materials and Methods: This is a methodological study in terms of the nature and descriptive cross-sectional in terms of implementation method and a population of 360 pregnant women, covered by Tabriz health centers, were randomly selected and included. The original TPDS questionnaire was translated into Persian using the forward-backward translation approach. Then, all women answered social demographic questionnaire, the Persian version of the TPDS (TPDS-P) and the Persian version of the DASS-21 questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS software. Factor analysis method was used in order to investigate the construct validity, and the results of the correlation test between the two questionnaires DASS-21 and TPDS-P were used to determine the criterion validity. For the investigation of reliability, internal consistency of the items by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was examined. For the measurement of stability of the results, the test-retest method and ICC calculation were used. To examine the structure of the factors derived from exploratory factor analysis, fitting the model was done through confirmatory factor analysis. Results: In the present study, the KMO outcomes were 0.846 (p = 0.001) in order to be effective on a scale. The total Cronbach alpha coefficient of the TPDS-P was 0.81. Cronbach's alpha in the subscales was more than the total Cronbach’s alpha. Cronbach’s alpha in the social (partner involvement) subscale was 0.86 and in the negative affect subscale was 0.85.
