The impact of hospital accreditation on quality of care: perception of Clinical staffs

Background. In the last two decades, accreditation is increasingly being used as a tool for to guaranteequality of care. In the Iran have been implemented accreditation standards, little is known yet on its impact on quality of care.Therefore, This study aims to gain a better understanding of the impact of accreditation on quality of care as perceived by clinical staff.
Methods: This study is cross sectional descriptive analytical that was conducted among 297 nurses at 11 teaching hospitals in Tabriz city. To collect data was used from a valid questionnaire with 54 questions in 9 dimentions includ results of quality, commitment and management support, strategic planning, education and training, rewards and recognition, quality management, use of data, staff Involvementand and benefits of accreditation. Data analysis using the software spss-24 and Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression was performed.
Results: Findings indicated that accreditationhas positive impacts on quality results.Education and training score, had thelowest agreement score(mean=2.86) while the staff Involvementsubscale (mean = 3.30) had the highest agreement score. Predictors of better quality results were leadership, commitment and support (β=0.798), staff involvement(β=0.153), rewards and recognition (β=0.085).
Conclusion:Based on the perspective of nurses accreditation is a useful tool for improving quality. However, commitment and management support is essential for the more effective implementation of accreditation. In addition to establishing an appropriate reward system to providesufficient incentive to participate nurses in programs accreditation.
