Comparison of the Effect of Triage by Team and Traditional Methods on Emergency Indicators of Sina Hospital in Tabriz in 1398
Abstract
Abstract: The emergency department is known as the heart of the hospital and its most important task is to provide emergency medical services. This department is of special importance due to providing services to various groups of patients. Therefore, treatment should be immediate, appropriate and appropriate. One of the methods of triage of patients in the emergency department is to use the common method of triage and based on the knowledge and practice of nurses. Studies have shown that using the triage method (physician-nurse) shortens patients' waiting time and increases triage efficiency. Emergency indicators are the waiting time for patients for the first visit to the doctor, divided into patient triage level, patient level agreement and patient satisfaction, which is measured and measured using a special registration form. The general purpose of this study was to determine and compare the effect of triage in both team and common methods on emergency indicators in Sinai Hospital in Tabriz in 1398. Methods: The present study is a quasi-experimental two-group study with random allocation. After the intervention in the field of triage, the data obtained from the research tools were collected and after coding in SPSS statistical software version 22 and entered for descriptive statistics analysis ( Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential (Chi-square, independent t-test, analysis of covariance and, if necessary, Mann-Whitney U) were used. Multivariate regression statistical methods were used to control confounding variables such as age, gender, education, diagnosis, previous disease history, etc. Findings in the components: gender, method of referral, previous referral, history of hospitalization, patients 'main complaint to the state of consciousness, patient triage level according to the nurse, patient triage level according to the doctor, patients' age, as well as patient triage agreement level of There is no significant difference between physician and nurse opinion in routine team triage (P> 0.05); However, there is a significant difference between the components of waiting time for the first visit and waiting time for receiving the first nursing care of patients in team and routine triage. The results of independent t-test show that the mean waiting time for the first visit and the average waiting time for receiving the first nursing care in team triage are significantly less than the usual triage (P> 0.05). Also, the results of independent t-test show that the average patient satisfaction in team triage is significantly higher than the usual triage (P> 0.05). The level of satisfaction while attending the emergency room, the satisfaction of the doctor's visit and the general satisfaction of the patients in the team triage were significantly higher than the usual triage, and therefore the use of the team triage method in all emergency departments of hospitals is strongly recommended.
