Developing a Quality Assessment Model for Hospital Health Services in Iran

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction & Objective: The performance of hospitals in the health system of countries has an important role in achieving the goals of health and sustainable development , and can have a significant impact on achieving a healthy society. In order to improve the quality of hospital services, the present study was conducted with the aim of developing a model for evaluating the quality of hospital services for Iranian hospitals. Methods and Materials: In this study, with using scoping method, a set of models for evaluating the quality of hospital services in the world and the dimensions and indicators used in each model were extracted from scientific texts. In the second specific purpose, with using a focused group discussion, the opinions of hospital service quality experts on the characteristics and most important dimensions of the hospital service quality evaluation model were discussed and the result of the group discussion along with the results of the review study was discussed. In the third specific purpose, using the Delphi method and the panel of experts, based on the views of experts, the validity of the model was reviewed and applied. The final comments were finalized in the form of a panel of experts. In the fourth specific purpose, the index of indicators was developed, which includes definitions, measurement standards, methods, collection tools and data analysis related to model indicators. Finally, a comprehensive model was designed for the fifth specific purpose. Results: From a total of 7060 studies, 14 quality models of hospital services were identified, which included 128 dimensions and 1824 indicators. And through several panels of experts and expert opinions, 93 indicators in eight dimensions were selected and presented as a comprehensive tool for Iranian hospitals under the title of hospital services quality model. Conclusion: The quality evaluation model of hospital services for Iranian hospitals includes functional and clinical indicators that can be used in general and specialized hospitals. By using this model, the quality of hospital services can be evaluated and using The results ranked those hospitals.
