Patient –Nurse Interaction and its Relation to Satisfaction with Nursing Care, and Control over the Disease in Viewpoint of Cancer Patients Hospitalized in Shahid Ghazi Hospital, 2012.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: The use of effective communication skills a human kind and integral part of nursing professional and as well should be considered as core of clinical skills. Understanding the communication between patients and health care provider during chemotherapy is essential for decision –making and patients' participation in care. Accordingly, effective communication is one of the most important components of nursing care in oncology settings. Attention to balance of effective communicative behaviors that inform by nurses can lead to increase satisfaction and wellbeing for cancer patients and as well establish clear communication and information giving is a perquisite for patient satisfaction with nursing care. Also control over disease which is along with the high awareness and knowledge from health risk is provided at the time of communicating with the patients. With attention to importance of communication issue and variables relation to its which are important indicators in the subject of cancer patient care and also dependence of these factor to every local culture, needs no study this issue in Iran is necessary because cultural dependence prevents use of results of a study in one country for others countries. Object: Determine the nurse –patient communication relationship with the patient's communication relationship with the patients' satisfaction with nursing care and control over disease in cancer patient. Material and Methods: In this descriptive and correlational study on patients hospitalized in the oncology wards in Shahid Ghazi Tabatabaei hospital, in Tabriz who had inclusion criteria a total of 131 patients were enrolled. The instrument used in this study consisted of three questionnaires: Questionnaires interaction quality nurse –patient views of patients, patient satisfaction questionnaires of nursing care and inventory control of the disease. Data analysis using SPSS software version 18 and descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Results: The results showed that the average score of nurse –patient communication, patient satisfaction with nursing care and control of the disease are 94/7 and 203/2 and 67/06 respectively. There was a statistical relationship between nurse –patient communication, satisfaction with nursing care and control of the disease, (p=0001). Conclusion: With attention to results of this study for progress of patient satisfaction and perceived control over disease, communication skills have allocated the highest score to itself. Also the finding of this study has emphasized subject the communicating both verbal and nonverbal point of view, therefore with attention to the necessity of the issue the carrying on an educational course of communicative skills and action for use of effective nonverbal communication technique in patient care and specially cancer patients for nursing students and nurses is recommended.
