Educational Needs of Emergency Nurses according to the Emergency Condition Preparedness Criteria in Hospitals of East Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences, 2011.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: In recent years, the world has witnessed natural disasters and crises. The various aspects of bioterrorism, biological, and chemical war leaded to the human and financial lethal effects for decades, preparedness for critical situations is essential care professionals specially nurses the present study assessed the educational needs of nurses for critical situations preparedness on which, educational planning could be done.
Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study including emergency nurses of educational hospitals in Tabriz.
Results: 102 questionnaires of research was conducted through a questionnaire consisted of two parts; 1-demographic profile.2- educational need of preparedness for the critical conditions including 44 questions and eight subscales. Data analyzed through SPSS 17.0 software 140 distributed questionnaires were analyzed. Results showed that 66/6 percent of study participants were female. 44% of the nurses had no experience of special training in crisis situations. The total score emergency condition preparedness of participants was (2/3±0/97); the lowest and highest scores of the participants was between reporting and accessing critical resources so bascule (2/03±0/9) and triage subscale (2/51±0/7). The mean scores of each item, in all eight sections (except triage), was moderate to low.
Conclusion: According to the results, the emergency, nurses are not prepared enough to respond appropriately in cries is situations. Therefore cries is situations should be offered for the nurses as continuing education. In addition, the development of cries is nursing post graduate departments is suggested.
