Abstract
One of the most common complications of kidney transplantation after surgery is the symptomatic accumulation of fluid around the kidney, such as a hematoma, lymphocele, or lymphoma. Lymphocele in kidney transplant recipients is a cystic-like chamber filled with lymphatic fluid, covered by a hard fibrous capsule that surrounds the transplanted kidney. The incidence of lymphoceles after kidney transplantation is widely different, so we decided to conduct a study to investigate the prevalence of lymphoceles in transplant recipients at the kidney transplant center in Emam Reza Hospital in the past 5 years. Material & Method: The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive analytical study. The target population in this study is children, adult and middle-aged men and women with ESRD who have undergone kidney transplant surgery at the kidney center of Imam Reza (AS) Hospital (the center of kidney transplantation in the northwest of the country) in the last 5 years. Results: The results of data analysis showed that 62% (156 cases) of patients were men and 37.6% (94 cases) of recipients were women. 211 (84.4%) were male transplant recipients and 39 (15.6%) were female. 198 (79.2%) of the transplant donors were living donors and 52 (20.8%) were brain dead. (Deceased Donor) The mean age of transplant recipients was 40.61 14 14.23 years with a minimum age of 8 years and a maximum of 69 years. Only 5 patients (2%) had a family relationship with the donor. two patients received a transplant from their child, 1 patient from their brother, 1 patient from their mother and 1 patient from their spouse. In total, transplant recipients were observed in only 5 cases of symptomatic lymphoceles. There were 3 female patients and 2 male patients. The mean age of these patients was 40.2 17 17.2 with a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 61 years, which occurred on average 48.4 ± 21.12 days after surgery between 24 days and 78 days.
