Comparison of the Quality of Life in Patients on Hemodialysis vs. Outpatients, referred to Tabriz Health Centers, 2010-2011.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: The prevalence of chronic diseases related to lifestyle risk factors and hemodialysis patients the physical, mental and social tolerance are double. The lifestyle it has on the quality of life and disease prevention is effective. This comparative study of lifestyle risk factors in hemodialysis patients and outpatient treatment centers in Tabriz has been made.
Materials and Methods: This study is a descriptive study on 155 patients and 155 hemodialysis outpatients referred to five dialysis centers and clinics Imam Reza, Sina, Shahid Madani, 29 Bahman and Amir –Almomenin Tabriz, the requirements for entry into the study were performed. Data collection tool, the questionnaire included personal details, and questions about the nutritional aspects of lifestyle, stress, physical activity and tobacco use and to analyze test data X2, SPSS17 software was used.
Results: A history of hypertension among hemodialysis patients 34.6 percent more than were outpatients. High salt consumption (more than two tablespoons a day) among hemodialysis patients 40.5 percent more than were outpatient. For receiving the food (from hydrogenated fats as usual) in hemodialysis patients 30.8 percent more than were outpatients. In the stress (problem in communicating with family) in outpatients 69.8 percent higher than hemodialysis patients. Physical activity in the 46.4 percent outpatient more than hemodialysis patients who had physical activity as walking.
Conclusion: The results showed that different aspects of lifestyle in some cases is associated with chronic kidney disease, health officials recommended a program to combat chronic diseases and to develop it in the first level health services to integrate the country, people seem to be public education about lifestyle modification can have a major role in the prevention of chronic kidney disease.
