The Effect of Foot Medical Zone-Therapy Reflex on the Intensity of PMS Symptoms in Students of Girls Hostels of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, 2010.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Pre -menstruation syndrome (PMS) is a common disease in women which occur in varying degrees in 95% of women and is the most prevalent disorder among women if reproductive age. Indeed millions of women in reproductive age have been affected by in. It is marked by recurring symptoms during the secretory menstrual cycle recognizing widespread use of traditional medication as the complementary medicine midwives should be consistent with the world's latest treatment method too. The high benefits reflex zone therapy and low side effects of it have made researcher to survey its impact on reducing its symptom among Tehran Universities of Medical Sciences female students living in dorms.
Methods & Materials: The present research is a blind one direction clinical study which was carried out on 120 students with PMS history. After confirming the PMS existence through registry of daily status (Dickerson questionnaire) in two menstruation cycles the subjects of research were divided at random into two therapy with actual and false zone therapy (by random list system). They received 30 minutes of the treatment once per week for 8 subsequent week. Data was collected by repeated measurement of ANOVA and π2.
Findings: Finding obtained from these group indicate in 23.78 percent of cases true reflex zone therapy can reduce menstrual symptoms after 8 week treatment period; this was 4.95% of cases false zone therapy. The statistical result showed significant differences between mean symptom severity scores of subjects before and after initial treatment with false and using reflex zone therapy. This group had a reduction in overall severity of symptom compared with placebo group. In mood signs intensity was (p<0.03); in body sings was (0.04) and in behavioral sings intensity was (p=0.16).
Conclusion: According to results this treatment method not only has good effectiveness but has not short or long term side effects. This is completely safe and pleasant experience for the patient. This research reveals need for complementary therapies alongside with conventional treatment along with other developed countries.
