Professional Socialization of Nursing Students and Graduates of the Nursing of Nursing Midwifery Faculty, Tabriz, 2010.
Abstract
Abstract: Background: Professional socialization is a process of role of the professional and effect on professional action of people. This is not only in educational environments but also has after graduation and until the person is working in the profession. Many studies show that, although professional socialization skills training is useful but these skills cannot be located in the areas of behavior, that is, to separate learning environment. The present study examined the professional socialization of nursing students at different education levels and after a year of graduations.
Methods: This cross –sectional study that took place in Tabriz nursing and midwifery faculty in 2010. The study sample included 118 nursing students at different educational levels and 26 nurses after a year of graduation. The data collected from to its professional socialization questionnaires were used after the validity and reliability (Cronbach =092.0). Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to describe the profile of the subjects' professional socialization were used to compare scores in different groups.
Results: The results showed that the majority of students in all grades participated in this study were 74 female (7.62 percent) and single 98 (83%) and in the majority of graduates were female, 24 (3.92 percent) and married, 20 (77%). Results showed that scores of professional socialization in all educational groups, respectively 248.7. 246.4, 241.5, 251.3 and 263 and were in high level of professional socialization Pearson's test, no significant difference between the professional socialization of students and graduates at different level showed no although socialization score in the fourth and graduates increased.
Conclusion: Very few studies of professional socialization of nursing students and comparison them, but although most of the study showed a high level of professional socialization of nursing students and graduates there was no same results in terms of professional socialization of nursing students in different grades. The main difference in these researches was Limitations of quantitative research methods and the same is not alone in this research tools. Using qualitative methods to examine in depth the concept of professional socialization and also conducted a longitudinal study on a group of students during the academic year will provide a credible results.
