چکیده
The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effects of carvedilol and terazosin in patients with moderate hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Materials and Methods: In this study, 40 men over 40 years of age who referred to Urology clinic with mean HTN and LUTS symptoms who did not receive treatment during the last month were entered to the study, and after random allocation of the groups, first group was treated with carvedilol and the other group received terazosin and enalapril. Blood pressure, prostate examination, and history records for urinary symptoms were assisted. BPH diagnosis and IPSS questionnaire were completed, and PSA and abdominal ultrasound tests for PVR and uroflowmetry were requested for QMAX recording. The results of CROSS OVER registration and study were performed in two groups after 8 weeks. Dosage titration was used to control blood pressure at normal levels. Results: The mean age of patients were treated with terazosin and enalapril was 61.25 ± 8.86 years and the mean age of patients with Carvedilol was 60.62 ± 31.9 years (P = 0.64). There was a no significant relation between the difference of mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure of patient who treated with terazosin and enalapril vs. Carvedilol group after treatment (P = 0.29, P = 0.15) and decreased blood pressure was seen in both groups.. In both groups, PVR, IPSS and PSA were decreased in both groups. There was no significant difference between the difference between the mean PVR, IPSS and PSA reduction in both groups after treatment (P> 0.05). QMAX measurements in both groups showed an increase in urinary flow, and there was no significant difference in mean Q-max elevation in the patients who was treated with carvedilol vs. enalapril and terazosin (P> 0.05).
