The Knowledge of Nurses regarding Professional Laws and Sighted Tasks and Following Sighted Tasks from their Vision in Educational Hospitals related to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, 2009.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Nurses directly or indirectly responsible for their medical errors nurses' awareness about sighted tasks of nursing and job codes of related ministry and following those codes can definitely cause no complaints against nurses or absolution of nurses, if the complaint was happened.
Methods of study: This research is descriptive correlation study, evaluated the nurse's knowledge about the professional law and their responsibilities and sighted tasks and follow them in Medical and Surgical wards in Tabriz University of Medical Science, 2009. All nurses and head nurses employed in internal and surgical wards were 298 nurses, were recruited as sample of this study by simple sampling. Sampling was based on objective. The data collection tools insist of social –individual characteristics and knowledge of professional laws and responsible test, and awareness of approved nursing sighted tasks and their practice to the sighted task in the Owen vision. The data was analyzed by SPSS statistical software 14, and statistical tests: independent T –test with independent samples, descriptive statics, one way ANOVA and Pearson correlation test.
Findings: The results showed that knowledge of majority of nurses 88.9 percent about professional laws was scored weak, and in 11.1 percent moderate, and no nursing knowledge in this area good. Most nurses 81.2 percent awareness about sighted tasks was moderate, 11.4 percent was good, and 7.4 percent was poor. Also, level of following sighted tasks as their vision; most nurses' 88.6 percent moderate and 0.7 percent as weak and 10.7 percent were good.
Conclusion: Nowadays the range of powers and responsibilities of nurses expanded and, this requires nurses sufficient knowledge and skills and high ability of decision making. Nurses must suppose professional law as a key element in their work, to prevent complain occurrence.
