The Effect of Kangaroo's Care on Outcomes of Breast –feeding in Nullipara referring to Tabriz Al –Zahra Educational Care Center, 2009.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: The most important feature of sucking period is that cerebra-physical harms caused by malnutrition cannot be compensated & also the nutrition habits are formed in this period. Furthermore, as the future of a society is based on the health of its children, it is necessary to acquire the best method in nourishing the children due to the functions it has on the cognitive and mental development of the children. Purpose: Study of Kangaroo's care effect on outcomes of breastfeeding (achievement in the first breastfeeding, duration of exclusive nutrition with mother's milk, and mother's satisfaction of breastfeeding) in Nullipara referring Tabriz Al –Zahra educational care center in 2009. Methodology: The method of this research was semi –experimental. The size of the sample was calculated by the ratio estimate formula. Eighty Nullipara mothers who had birth full-term & healthy infants were selected as a sample and they were divided into two groups randomly: Kangaroo's care group (experimental group) & hospital routine care (control group). After determining the validity and reliability of the tools, the data were gathered by a questionnaire including individual –social characteristics, the mothers' pregnancy and childbirth information and the evolution checklist of breastfeeding through observing the first breastfeeding. After four months, another questionnaire as completed about the mothers' satisfaction of their exclusive breastfeeding. The data were analyzed with SPSS15 and descriptive –statistical methods, independent –samples test, chi –square, and Fisher test. Results: The outcomes revealed that the first breastfeeding achievements in experimental group had been more than control group significantly (p=0.002). Mothers' satisfaction of lactation in experimental group had been more than control group significantly (p=0.02). And the average period of exclusive nutrition in experimental group had been more than the control group significantly (p=0.04). Conclusion: The Kangaroo's care after delivery is effect on outcomes of breastfeeding. Because Kangaroo's care have several benefits and can done in any places, this method suggested that will done routinely in hospitals.
