Determine and Comparison of the Effectiveness Combination Extract Fennel and Vitamin E with Ibuprofen on Pain Intensity in Primary Dysmenorrhea at Student Tabriz City, 2007-2008.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is the prevalent disorder affecting around 50% of menstruating women, and about 1% of the women at the years of reproductive suffer from job disorders for 1-3 days in month because of intense dysmenorrhea. Aim: The purpose of this study was determine and comparison of the effects of combination extract fennel and vitamin E with Ibuprofen on the intensity in primary dysmenorrhea in the Tabriz city students, 2007-2008. Materials & Methods: This study was by double –blind Quasi -experimental research method. After taking needed licenses from ethics committee, 68 students from Medical and Tabriz Universities who were living in the dormitory, and suffering from primary dysmenorrhea and had condition of study were separated randomly in two groups (n=34). And two groups used combination extract fennel and vitamin E cross –over from in the two months. We used VAS tools for defining the intensity of the pain. Data analyzing was done using SPSS 17win. Results: Results showed that, the intensity mean peak of pain in first, second, third, 6th, 48th hours at the group who had used combination extract fennel and vitamin E, was lower than the group who had used Ibuprofen, and statistical differences were observed between two groups in first and second hours. And combination extract fennel and vitamin E was more effective than Ibuprofen in first hour (p<0.03) and second hour (p<0.04). Conclusion: Combination extract fennel and vitamin E is effective on the intensity of primary dysmenorrheal pain and it is advised to those, who can't use chemical drugs.
