Surveying Quality of Life of Burn Survivors Hospitalized in the Teaching Hospital of Sina durong 2011-2013 in Tabriz
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Burn is one of the most important public health problems in developing and also in developed counties. Burn is the danger threatens peoples every day in different forms. Because of recent significant improvement in burn treatment, the number of survivor shave been increased which raise questions about long term consequences of burn and long lasting results of the treatment approaches. This study was conducted in regard to evaluate the burn survivor’s quality of life whom had been hospitalized in Sina hospital.
Materials and methods: in this descriptive study 220 patients with burn injuries who admitted to Sina hospital from 2011 to 2013 were selected randomly. The survivor’s quality of life which including physical, mental and social aspects was assessed using BSHS-B questionnaire. Data was analyzed using SPSS and descriptive and analytical statistics.
Results: the results showed that physical aspect with mean ±SD (2.84±0.36) and mental aspect with mean ±SD (2.79±0.23) were highest and lowest level respectively. In another word the survivor’s average score in term of physical health was 51.30±6.25 out of18-90 suggested relatively high quality of life and it was 31.00±26.00 out of 11-55 in term of mental health which suggested low quality of life. The overall average of quality of life was 109.25±11.49 out of 40-200 that was upper intermediate.
Conclusion: the middle level of quality of life among survivors in all aspects show , it is essential to plan comprehensive program in regard to deliver services to survivors particulars in mental health term, so that meet their needs and by educating patients with burn problems it is possible, to enhance their quality of life, preventing and solving their problems.
