The Effect of Outcome –Based Education on Clinical Competency of Nursing Students in Tabriz Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery.
Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Concerns that the traditional education systems cannot adequately prepare students for life and work. In the 21st century, they have prompted people to designing and application of new method of education. It seems that the application of outcome –based education being effective on clinical competency of student can help them to employ their abilities in a best way.
Material and Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study. Information was collected by means of a questionnaire consisting. Information was analyzed using SPSS12 distribution of frequency and absolute percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test and exact fisher test.
Results: The findings showed that the participation of the OBE has been effective in promoting the students' knowledge and skill. The mean scores significantly differed before and after the participation in OBE (p<0.01) and the clinical competency nursing students in groups of traditional and OBE education differed significantly (p<0.01).
Conclusion: OBE promises high level of learning for students, it seems that OBE to maximizing opportunities for learning, professional development and clinical competency.
