Compare of Marital Satisfaction in Fertile and Infertile Women referring to Selected Teaching Centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2005.
Abstract
Abstract: Background and Objectives: Infertility is an important problem of reproduction health which was recognized by W.H.O, with physiological, psychological and social aspects. This phenomenon is a serious stress in life and inserts severe psychological shock to couples, which affect interpersonal, social and marital relationship and leads to couples psychological disequilibrium and disconnect relationship between them.
Materials and Methods: This research is a descriptive –comparative study. Statistical population consist of 300 fertile and infertile women. The tools for gathering the data includes two parts. First part contains demographic characteristic and second part includes marital satisfaction according to summarized questionnaire of Enrich. Data analysis was done by SPSS program.
Results: The result showed that in infertile group, marital satisfaction rate increased with age and infertile group marital satisfaction rate decreased with age, although most infertile women were in moderate satisfaction group. There wasn't significant differences between two groups.
Conclusion: One of stresses that affect psychological structure and interpersonal relations in infertility. Many researches show that infertility and actually viewing it, causes emotional disturbances among couples. Results show that marital satisfaction of fertile and infertile women have no significant differences. Conflict and gloom found, is probably due to various approaches which different groups take toward infertility. In another word, not all the infertile persons face the infertility similarly.
