Knowledge and Attitude of Allameh Amini Teacher Training Center Male Students about HIV/AIDS in Tabriz, 2003: The Effect of Educational Program.
Abstract
Abstract: Background: Humans always attempt to live relax and have a health from beginning of creation to now and for reaching to this aim, humans always attempt and attempt. The AIDS is one of the faces of new evaluation in human lives. AIDS threat the human's lives to the death and run in all over the world and are the dangerous alarm for developing country. Because of the AIDS is not controllable, no country, issue, sex and nobody couldn't be respite from it. The best applied method to comparing against AIDS is education of hygiene and gives health advice to all of the people especially young adult and adult with nurses who thy are member of health member groups in society.
Goals: Evaluation of knowledge and attitudes of boy student Tarbiat Moallem Allameh Amini University about AIDS: The effect of educational program.
Materials and Methods: This survey is a semi –experimental research that determines the knowledge and attitude of teacher training center students about HIV/AIDS before and after education in Tabriz. A 46 items questionnaire assessing: 1 –demographic characteristics (11 items), 2 –knowledge (20 items), attitude (15 items) on HIV/AIDS was administered to 109 randomly selected students in two phases. Data analysis was done using SPSS10/WIN and use of descriptive statistics an analytic statistic (independent sample t –test, variance analyze and LSD test).
Results: The findings of this study showed that 84.4% of the students had a good level of knowledge and 15.6% had a moderate knowledge before the education, 100% of students had a good level of knowledge about AIDS after the education. Attitude towards HIV/AIDS were positive in majority of them before and after education (about 99/1%). In addition to, the results didn't reveal significant differences between the student's knowledge, attitude and demographic characteristics (age, education, habitancy and married, history of informal education, source of giving information) before and after education. There was a significant difference only between the student's knowledge, attitude and diploma type, education tendency after education.
Discussion and Conclusion: The findings of this study showed with more than 99% confidentiality that education can increase the student's knowledge and attitude. Because of the positive effect of education in progress of student's knowledge and attitude about AIDS, there is urgent need to educate all the student's about HIV/AIDS, methods of transmission and its preventive measures.
