Ethical Climate and its Relationship with Disciplines Attitude in Students Job Satisfaction of Operating Room Staff in Teaching Hospitals in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, 2014

Abstract
Abstract Background and Aim: Ethical climate of hospital work setting, in addition to effect on quality of provided cares by personnel, effects job satisfaction of them. Also, climate of clinical settings is reported as one of the effective factors on quality of the clinical education and student's attitude toward their field of study. Because of no study about effect of ethical climate of operating room on personnel job satisfaction and also effect of such climate on operating room student's attitude toward their field of study, this research conducted in teaching hospitals of Tabriz. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross- sectional study that has done on operating room students and staff of operating room in teaching hospitals of Tabriz University of medical sciences in 2014. Because the number of staff and students was limit, whole of them entered into this study. The used instruments are demographic characteristics form, Hospital Ethical Climate Survey, Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and students' attitude questionnaire. Data were analyzed with SPSS18 software using descriptive and analytical statistics methods including Chi-Square test and Spearman's ordinal correlation coefficient. Results: At this study 78% of staff were female and 75.3% were married and mean score of their age was 34.54±6.98. About the students, Most of them were female (%61.4) and single (%86.8) and mean score of their age was 20.87±1.54. According to the results, %64.9 of students and 58.1% of personnel had negative perception of operating room's ethical climate. Also 48.4% of staff were at medial range of job satisfaction and %51.8 of students had positive attitude towards their field of study. A significant relationship was found between ethical climate and job satisfaction of staff (P≤0/001, r=0.93) and attitude of operating room students towards their field of study (P≤0/001, r=0.56). Conclusion: Despite negative ethical climate of operating rooms, most of the staff had medial satisfaction of their job and most of the students had positive attitude towards their field of study. But in view of the direct relationship between ethical climate and these two variables, it is necessary that hospital managers apply mechanisms to improve ethical climate of operating rooms and evaluate job satisfaction of staff. Also, with improving ethical climate of operating rooms and attitude of operating room students towards their field of study, can be certified there future career
