The Impact of Nurses Regular Clinical Rounds on Patients Anxiety and Satisfaction

Abstract
Abstract: Background and aim: Patients anxiety and satisfaction with nursing care is influenced by the attention they receive while hospitalized. The aim of this study was determine the effect of regular nursing rounds on patients' anxiety and satisfaction with nursing care. Method: In this quasi-experimental study, ۴۰ people of the admitted-patients in to the medical-endocrine unit, using convenience sampling were selected, and then they were placed in control and experimental group respectively. In experimental group regular nursing rounds every ۱-۲ hours and in control group routine care were conducted. State- Trait Anxiety questionnaire was used to measure patient anxiety, and patient satisfaction from the quality of the nursing care was measured by using Patient Satisfaction with Quality of Nursing Care Questionnaire (PSNCQ) and in both groups. Data were analyzed using descriptive (mean, SD) and analytic statistics (t student tests) in SPSS ۱۶. Findings: at first, there was no statistical difference in patient satisfaction and anxiety between the intervention and control groups (p=۰/۴۹۹), but after intervention patient anxiety in intervention group became less than control group (p=/۰۰۱).patient satisfaction in intervention group became more than control group (p=/۰۰۱). Conclusion: The results of this study show that, conducting regular clinical nursing rounds has positive effect on patients' anxiety and satisfaction. So it is expected by employing this method the nurse -patient interaction was improved, thus patients' anxiety decrease and accordingly quality of nursing care and patient satisfaction were increased.
