Comparative Survey of Knowledge and Attitude of Midwives and other Family Health Workers of Tabriz Health Centers to Primary Health Care, 2003.

Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Health services have been established for meet health needs of society using existent knowledge and resources. In 1978 primary health care as a strategy got in to health services following Alma –Ata conference and since P.H.C is a new direction toward society health needs, its execution is necessary and overlapping with it is inevitable. In health servicing system, human resources have essential role, and here the roles of midwives are more outstanding and sensitive. Regarding social and economic aspects of P.H.C and direct effect of knowledge and attitude in someone's performance, it seems necessary to determine and compare knowledge and attitude of health practitioners to P.H.C. Methods: This survey is a descriptive –comparative study that is concerned with the determination and comparison of knowledge and attitude of midwives and other family health practitioners to P.H.C. the data was collected through questionnaires which were completed by reference of the researcher to all Tabriz Health Centers and distributing it to among 194 member of family health practitioners. For analyzing data, descriptive and analytic statics was applied using SPSS/WIN10 software. Results: The mean of knowledge score was 48.02 (SD=13.11) and 51.22 (SD=14.62) for midwives and other family health practitioners respectively, (range was 0-100). Difference was not significant (p=0.123). The mean of attitude score was 69.84 (SD=1.95) and 70.64 (SD=9.20) for midwives and other health practitioners respectively, (range was -100), difference is not significant (p=0.537). There was a direct –positive correlation between knowledge and attitude of midwives (r=0.307 p<0.001) and also there was a relatively strong direct –positive correlation between knowledge and attitude of other family health practitioners (r=0/403, p=0.001). Conclusion: The results of study showed that in general knowledge level of midwives and other family health practitioners is moderate, and their attitude is positive. According to results, in some questions knowledge of samples was not satisfactory and since science and technology developing and people's knowledge increasing in health have increased society exceptions of health workers, it seems necessary to design exact essential planning in health and education aspects.
