Treand of the etiology of superior vena cava syndrome in the northwest of country in the period 1999-2019

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic signs of SVCS in patinets with SVCS who were hospitalized in the northwest of Iran within last 20 years. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 56 patients with SVCS who were hospitalized in one of the teaching hospitals of Imam Reza, Sina and children in Tabriz during 2001-2020. Data related to demographics, history of comorbidities, main complaint at the time of referral, symptoms associated with SVCS, and CT scan and bronchoscopy results regarding the presence of a mass, were extracted from the hospital records of the patinets and statistically analyzed. Results: In this study, the mean age of patients was 51±17.3 years old. Also, 40 (71.4%) patients were male and 16 (28.6%) were female. The most common previous diseases in patients include hypertension (40.8%), diabetes (28.6%), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (18.4%), malignancy (8.1%) and chronic renal failure (4.1%) were. The most common main complaints of patients during referral include dyspnea (44.6%), facial edema (19.6%), cough (12.5%), due to catheter insertion (8.9%), chest pain (4 5.5%), dizziness (5.4%) and noise violence (3.6%). The most common symptoms associated with the disease include dyspnea (80.4%), facial edema (73.2%), cough (64.3%), hand edema (48.2%), chest pain (30.4%), Dizziness (30.4%), loss of consciousness (14.3%) and vasodilation (10.7%). CT scan findings in 69 (69.6%) patients and bronchoscopy in 24 (42.9%) patients showed the presence of a mass.
